It is a Dirt Devil spinoff with the Hoover name on it. Hoover was bought out by the Hong Kong owners of Dirt Devil and the quality really shows in this piece of junk.
Remember the days when the Hoover name was synonymous with quality?
Well if you're looking for that kind of quality stay away from this piece of junk. You would think a company that was proud of their name would make a quality product to commemorate their anniversary, but when they sold out to TTI in Hong Kong, all that changed and now it's profit, profit and only profit.
Please don't get me wrong, this thing has plenty of suction power and is very quiet compared to past models, but the cheap materials used in this model is pathetic. Where the hell are the fingertip switches for POWER ON/OFF & SUCTION RHEOSTAT? I would almost bet that all those who left a 3, 4 or 5 star rating will be sorry within a year.
